Before recording a donation, a record of the donor who made it needs to be created. There are three ways of doing this. Just click either:
- ‘New Donor’ in the ‘donors’ section of the logged in home page.
- ‘Your Account’ pulldown menu: donors/new donor
- 'Add New Donor' in the green side panel on the 'Donors List' page
what to include
Mandatory fields for a successful repayment claim are marked with an asterisk. These include:
- First Name
- Last Name
- First Line of address
- Post Code
eligible for Gift Aid?
If you wish Gift Aid to be reclaimed, don’t forget to tick the box to mark the donor as a UK taxpayer. You may also wish to enter the date of the declaration into the ‘Gift Aid declaration date’ field. This is optional. See also ‘retrospective claims’ for related information.
It’s also important to understand donor references, when creating donor records.
overseas donors
The Post Code field is mandatory for UK taxpayers living in the UK. If your donor lives overseas, check the ‘overseas’ button to allow an address without a postcode.
editing donors
Donor records may be edited at any time. Simply go to the record by selecting last name from the Dnors List. This appears as a green link. If making any changes, be sure to click update to save the changes you’ve made.
notes
A notes field is provided for recording any special circumstances relating to the donor.
